On July 20, the Bryan School hosted a dinner at the Alumni House to welcome new graduate students. On hand to represent the Economics Department were department head Jeremy Bray and graduate coordinator Jean Rosales, accompanied by alumni Dr. Brant Morefield (MA ’07, PhD ’11) and Dr. Matt Trombley (MA ’10, PhD ’14). We were delighted to have a chance to catch up with alumna Lydia Hassell (MA ’13), representing her employer, Bryan corporate partner HanesBrands.
New student guests who will be joining the MA program included UNCG alums Zachary Blizard and Stephanie Hanyok (with her guest), Dalton Moss (Appalachian State), and Chuchu Chen, one of three UNCG undergrads who will begin their graduate studies through the Accelerated Degree Program. Astou Aw (University of Calgary) and her guest also attended. Astou will be entering the PhD program this fall.
The conversation at the MA table ranged from summer reading lists to how we are spending our summer vacations. All three alumni provided helpful answers to questions about the UNCG Econ programs and good advice about succeeding in graduate study.
